Synopsis:
Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.
Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.
THE WEDDING PACT is another yet amazing story of Mafia familes fighting for love and family. This time around was Carrigan and James's story. We met these two in the previous book, The Marriage Contract. Carrigan is Teague's sister and James is the son of an enemy family. Carrigan and James had a sexy moment and *I ship them since then* I was really excited to finally see what their story would be like and let me tell, I wasn't disappointed one bit.
Katee Robert started with a bang and continued to hold my attention and love throughout the whole book. Carrigan is probably one of my favorite female characters. She's selfless and good to her siblings and wants to keep them safe whatever the cost... even if that cost is her happiness. She holds such a weight on her shoulders: marrying. Her father wants to marry her with some stranger, but treats this marriage like a transaction, like if she was an object. And throughout the book you say how this affects her and her family and even James. Carrigan O'Malley deserves the world, that's a fact.
Let's talk about James Halloran now. You first think that he's a bad boy and the new King of the Hallorans but holy hell, you are wrong. He's literally the sweetest thing in the world. You might even compare him to a cute puppy. But sometimes puppies take out their claws to protect their loved ones. And James Halloran is just like this. He doesn't want to be a horrible person but it comes with the job. The only thing, the only person who makes him feel something and makes me feel at peace is Carrigan but they didn't start their relationship on the good foot. Either way he has in his mind he's going to make Carrigan see they're perfect together.
Their relationship with their families is also an imporant part of this book. Even though I hate Carrigan's father a lot, her siblings are sunshines. We all know Teague is such a sweetheart and loves Carrigan so very much. In The Wedding Pact we see more of Cillian and a bit of Sloan and Keira and Aiden. Of course Cillian's book is next so we find out a few interesting things *wink* and I'm pretty excited for what's to come. On the other side, James only has his little brother left and he's a shitty brother, yup indeed.
What Carrigan and James are looking is freedom and family in this book. And love. Love that could conquer all the world!
New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. She found romance novels at age twelve and it changed her life. When not writing sexy contemporary and speculative fiction romance novels, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her wee ones, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
